cadillac mountain top ~ misty fragments ~ midnight moon ~ light my path

This abstract painting was created from a hike to the top of Cadillac Mountain in Maine, expecting to experience unbelievable display of stars. Instead, something far more profound revealed itself in the dense fog and intense moon creating the subtlest of light, just barely enough to light the path underfoot.

~ WHEN DARKNESS FALLS

With the setting of the sun, the transition from day to night stirs within us a sense of mystery. What secrets does the night hold? What dreams and possibilities can be uncovered? The juror sought works that reflect on why we are drawn to the darkness and the unknown, including works that communicate the drama of the night and examine sources of light within the dark and explore the symbolism and superstition of the dark and reveal the mystery cloaked in the wonder of the night.

ABOUT THE JUROR: Ms. Robyn Strayer, Senior Program & Exhibit Specialist, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. Robyn will say a few words at the opening, as well as announce the award winners.

My accepted entry (as shown above) is an acrylic abstract with a haiku inspired by a midnight hike on Cadillac Mountain in Maine.
