Foundry Gallery ~ Framing the Monument ~ Photography Show & Auction

  • Foundry Gallery 2118 8th Street NW Washington DC 20001 United States (map)

In Contrast by Karin Edgett
8x10 archival print, matt and Frame
$300

This show could take place nowhere else but Washington DC. Photographers and artists love the start white giant obelisk against blue skies, cloudy skies, etc. I am no exception. I have hundreds of photographic studies of the Washington Monument. This one I call In Contrast. One particular full moon night in October, I recorded the perfect tree silhouetted by this monument. The printed image you will need to see in person to fully appreciate how the detail in the natural patterns of the tree are perfectly defined by the Washington Monument, but the dark blue sky causes the branches to obscure becoming ghostly wisps.
